Old Town to Cliftonville
Margate draws locals and visitors to very different places: the Old Town, the Harbour Arm, Dreamland, the Turner Contemporary and the seafront along Marine Terrace, with Cliftonville and Westbrook either side. Thanet had 4,790 businesses at the March 2026 count, and 4,325 of them (90%) were micro businesses with fewer than 10 employees.
These are Thanet-wide figures, Ramsgate and Broadstairs included. In a district made up mostly of very small firms, a distinctive, well-made site is one of the few ways to look as established as a much bigger competitor.
